Through funding from our City Councilmember Ben Kallos, PS 183 opened their new Hydroponics Science lab in the fall of 2019. With a partnership with New York Sunworks, students, in addition to the New York Science curriculum, will study environmental sustainability by growing their own plants and vegetables.

Thanks to a grant from our NY State Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright, P.S. 183 recently renovated their art room. Students get art class, once a week, where they work in a variety of mediums. Student art work is featured in our yearly 183 art show and the District 2 Art Show at Sotheby’s Auction House.

WHAT MAKES P.S. 183 SPECIAL?
We envision our school as a learning community that treats children and adults with respect and kindness. Our school motto is, “Take Care of Each Other.” Our motto doesn’t simply exist in our handbook. It serves to guide and inform the decisions we make for the betterment and growth of our school community.
We lay the foundation for children to experience and explore social and cultural diversity, discuss issues of equity, and develop compassion for others. Our diversity as a community is recognized, celebrated, and valued. It builds a sense of self-worth in our students so they can take their places in NYC and in the world beyond. Students who leave 183 become empowered adolescents who work well with others and embrace their responsibility to inspire positive change in our world.
Our Mission
Our PTA is committed to funding teaching assistants to support all our K-2 classroom teachers. Our Teaching Assistants help our young students at specials, in the classroom, and during lunch and recess.
