Middle School Tour Information
The following is just a few schools and their Tour Date/Open House Schedules. For all other schools you may be interested in touring, please reach out to them directly. Their contact information/web sites can be found in the Middle School Directory.
East Side Middle School, 331 East 91st Street, will be holding an Open House for 183 on Tuesday, November 22nd. You do not need to register to attend. If this date does not work for you, please contact East Side Middle 212-360-0114 to ask for a different Open House date. There will also be a Special Education Informational Session on Friday, October 14th at 8:45. You must RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org and put “RSVP ICT Open House” in the subject line.
Clinton School for Writers and Artists, 10 East 15th Street will be holding three Open Houses this Fall, all are on Thursdays at 6:00 pm. 10/13, 10/20 and 10/27. Lab Middle School, 333 West 17th will be holding tours on 9/28, 9/30, 10/5, 10/6, 10/7, 11/7, 11/9, 11/10, 11/14, 11/15, 11/18. You must register to attend by visiting www.nyclabschool.net. Tours take place starting promptly at 8:00 am and last till 9:30 am. As in the previous years, only one parent can attend the tour with their child. Lab Middle School will give students letters to take back to their school for attendance purposes and they must be dropped off in the Main Office with Elizabeth Hebner. Wednesday, November 9th will be their Inclusion Information Session for families interested in Special Education and on November 30 will be their evening Open House. Both evening sessions will start promptly at 5:00 pm. You do not need to register on line for these two sessions.

Salk Middle School, 320 East 20th Street will be holding an Open House for our school on Wednesday, November 16th 4:00pm – 5:30 pm. Salk prefers our school to attend on that date but if it does not work for you, you can attend on Wednesday, October 19th or Wednesday, December 7th. The entrance for the tour is on 19th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue. www.salkschool.org
School of The Future, 127 East 22nd Street requires families to visit their website www.sof.edu to sign up for one of their tours. The link can be found on the top left of their home page. There are three tours to choose from, all are on Wednesdays at 2:00 pm, October 19th, October 26th or November 2nd.
Yorkville East, 1458 York Avenue will be hosting Open Houses for District 2 fifth grade students and their families on Wednesday, November 2nd and Tuesday, November 15th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Information sessions and tours are scheduled for District 2 fifth grade students and their families from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in October and November on the following dates: 10/14, 10/20, 10/25, 11/3, 11/10, and 11/22. Families must call ahead to reserve a place on the tour as space is limited. Please ask for Ms. Morales in the main office at (917) 432-5413. www.ms177.org
Wagner Middle School, 220 East 76th Street will be holding an Open House for our school on Wednesday, October 19th at 9:15 am. Registration is mandatory and can be completed by visiting www.wagner167.org, under the tab “About Wagner” you will see “2016 Fall Tour Schedule”. Follow that link to register. There will also be a Special Education Q&A on that morning. If the 10/19 date does not work for you, you may register for one of the other dates.
Nest+ located on 111 Columbia Street will be on the Middle School Application for the first time this year. Nest+ is a gifted and talented school on the Lower East Side. In order to be considered for admittance, students interested in applying must take the Nest+ Entrance Exam. Morton Middle School, Information Session: Learn about the new District 2 middle school, MS 297 at 75 Morton Street, meet the new principal, Ms Jacqui Getz. This new school will be approximately a 35 minute ride from PS 183's neighborhood via the F train.The event is open to everyone. Families of 5th graders interested in the new school are strongly encourage to attend.

Other events to note!
PS 183 will host a Middle School Panel, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 27th at 6:00 pm. The Panel will consist of 7th Grade students who have moved on from 183. It will be an informal Q&A session for parents and our current fifth grade students. It is a great way to learn what Middle School is really like from the Middle Schoolers who attend them!
We are working with District 2 Middle School Coordinator, Jimmy Bueschon to set a date for him to meet with fifth grade parents/guardians. Watch backpack mail and Class Parent e-mails (Coming soon) for details.
